Food for Thought Prt 35 - 38

Food for Thought Prt 35

In the last food for thought article number 34 I mentioned a couple of cases where Blacks and other minorities were getting killed by police and others much too often America and most of the time there isn’t anything done about it. This is not only in the southern states like Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, etc. but also up north in cities like Washington DC. Pennsylvania, New York, Chicago and out west in Denver, L.A etc. It’s all over the U.S.

A while back New York police gunned down Amadou Diallo, an African immigrant in front of his building (Feb. 1999) He had been followed by an elite crime unit who viewed him suspicious. Diallo went for his wallet to show I.D which cops thought it was a gun and fired 41 times killing him. Diallo had no criminal record.. Just prior to that also in the Bronx, New York Eleanor bumpers a mentally ill grandmother was shot in the chest and killed by police, no cops were punished in that incident either. These similar cases are too numerous to get into right now, but it’s a pattern of abuse by police and indifference to our judicial system to punish anyone for killing blacks and other minorities, Black life has no value to white America.

More recently showing how hatred and racism still exist to the fullest extent in America, a federal Judge in Montana admitted to sending a racist e-mail on Feb. 28th 2012 to six people on his e-mail account. The email suggested that President Obama was the product of a sexual encounter between his mother and a dog. The judge said the so-called joke touched his heart and he didn’t send it out because he’s a racist, but because it’s anti Obama. Now keep in mind this clown is a federal judge who sits on the bench making rulings and judgements of people of all races, from liability and prosecution for crap they do to jerk around defendants. As I’ve mentioned in a previous “Food for Thought” article, its rare when you can sue a prosecutor or judge because of the immunity they receive.

Lately there has been a great deal of display of anti-black hatred in the U.S. Hangman’s nooses placed all over the place letting people know that there is still a great deal of hatred for us in America. Our prisons are overwhelmingly full of blacks and other minorities, which is just another form of slavery. I recently read an excellent book called “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander. She points out how Mass incarceration has taken over. It shows how the prison industrial complex is the new Jim Crow and needs to be abolished. Sure there are some crimes in American just like any other country but America has over two million of their citizens in their prisons, more than all the other countries combined and most of those locked up are people of  color and many of them have been railroaded.

I read an interesting U.S supreme court case about two black men in Potawatomie  County,  Iowa that served more then 25 years in prison of a life sentence before being released.  The police and prosecutor had fabricated, coerced and concealed evidence to frame for a murder of a white ex cop that was working as a security guard at a car dealership, Black cops filed an Amicus Curiae brief in support of the two black guys that were filing a lawsuit against the cops and prosecutors involved in the case. Black cops Against Police Brutality (BCAP) is an organization dedicated to ensuring that the rights under the constitution.  Their website is http://www.b-cap.org  BCAP takes a particular interest in opposing racial profiling and police use of excessive force. They are generally concerned with any racial unfairness in the administration of justice.

The guys that got framed and railroaded are Terry J. Harrington and Curtis W. McGhee Jr. Its not often that you hear about the good cops that go up against the crooked cops, normally they lie and back up the rotten officers, as do the prison guards. Covering up for each other is more important than telling the truth and doing the right thing, so it’s a breath of fresh air, to say the least!!!!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT PART 36

When the average Joe citizens in America going to demand more from our elected officials? When is there going to be some outrage for wasting tax payer money on a broken judicial system made up of crooked prosecutors and judges that are just trying to further their political careers by winning at all cost, that allow this process to continue!!!! Then on the other hand this may be a purposely designed plan by the elite. I’ve talked about how our prisons are full of people of color and poor whites many times in previous Food for Thought articles, so this appears to help make the pieces of the puzzle fit snugly. The problem with this mentality of the crooks implementing this plan is, soon they will have to start locking up their own, when they run out of the lower class to imprison and will have to turn on themselves.  Did you ever wonder why prosecutors that have been exposed for all kinds of unlawful, rotten, low down tricks to ensure a conviction have never been disbarred or disciplined???? Have you ever wondered why every other day you hear about someone being released from prison, often after serving 20 to 30 years for a crime they didn’t commit and it’s found  out the prosecutor did some unsavoury trick and nothing happened to him/her for their actions?  I guess it’s easy to understand why they continue to do it over and over again. Yes, because there isn’t any incentive to play by the rules when you are sure nothing is going to happen to you if and when you get caught.

A guy names Ken Armstrong, a legal affairs writer, working for the Chicago Tribune, did  a study a while back on murder convictions in this country, He found that since 1963, at least 381 murder convictions across the nation had been reversed because of police or prosecutorial  misconduct. (that’s only the ones they caught) This isn’t any rare occasion, these chumps purposely intend to deceive and fool the court and U.S citizens to win by any means necessary, without any regard to the defendant, court or the constitution. This study was only on murder cases I’m sure there are thousands more for other crimes. Now, it’s despicable to say the least that it’s being down at all, but I’m  talking about murder cases where a person can get executed or spend the rest of their lives in prison.  The sad, crazy and outrageous part about it is they found that not one of the prosecutors who broke the law, in these most serious charges, was ever convicted or disbarred. Most of the time they were not even disciplined.  Now who are the crooks?  It appears this so called best judicial system in the world is only for a select few!!

The average joe citizen often heares sound bites on the news about a heinous crime that was committed somewhere in the country, but no so often hears about the crimes committed on a daily basic across the country by the police and prosecutors framing innocent citizens for crimes,  Much too often people are sent to prison for a bunch of years, some even to the row and there is no outrage,

A while back in 2004 the U.S Supreme court reversed a capital murder case in Texas of Delma Banks (540 u.s.668. 2004) Banks spent 24 years on death row, a victim of the foul play of Texas prosecutors, Keep in mind, Texas is the execution capital of the world. More people are executed in Texas than any other State in American, and more often!!  They are known world wide for speedy executions and blood thirsty appetite for killing.  Anyway the Supreme court found the Texas prosecutors withheld evidence undermining key witnesses credibility at trial and failed to correct false testimony. They also deliberately made false and misleading argument to the jury. That’s crazy!! They even allowed all of this to continue all throughout direct appellate and collateral review of the process.  The Texas disciplinary authorities  knew about this, yet there is no record on file of any discipline of the prosecutors involved, so it’s unlikely anyone will ever be punished for violating Ban ks constitutional rights causing the 24 years of incarceration. I have to keep repeating myself, this jumps off all across America on a daily basis in this so called best judicial system in the world.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT PART 37

In the last  ‘food for thought’ article I spoke about some of the unlawful outrageous stunts many prosecutors are pulling in courtrooms in America. Not only in the courtrooms in America but also the conduct of police and in many cases combined with the prosecutors to frame innocent citizens, often withholding and falsifying evidence and a host of other despicable acts to ensure convictions.

There is no outrage from the public and even when the few times these police and prosecutors get caught, the case gets reversed, the prisoner gets released, etc. nine times out of ten, nothing is done to the criminal police and prosecutors who are guilty of the acts, How many more innocent people are on death row waiting to be executed because similar acts were done to them and it hasn’t been detected??? How many more innocent people are rotting away in prisons all across this country because of the rotten, low down deplorable acts of the police and prosecutors that haven’t been exposed??  These aren’t  isolated incidents that I’m talking about, there are just too many to report in the limited amount of space that I’m working with, One of the main problems with the actions of police and prosecutors that engage in the conduct of framing and railroading innocent people is that 99% of the time absolutely nothing is done to the prosecutors because they are covered with immunity from prosecution in most instances in regard to prosecuting a case and even when they should be held liable for knowingly violating the constitutional rights of a citizen there isn’t any desire to hold them accountable by their croonies in the judicial system.  Remember the majority of the time these cases involve people of color and poor whites. This country has a long way to go in regard improving its position on race and class treatment.

Just look at how the country is divided on racial lines on the Trayvon Martin case. There was an interesting article in a recent Nation of Islam’s “Final call” newspaper (April 3rd 2012) about  the Trayvon Martin case. The 17 hear old that was murdered recently by 28 year old George Zimmerman, The article spoke about how the killing sparked activism, street rallies all across the country and how it brings America face to face with the reality of race, life and death, which is true and right on point. It also mentioned how the death of the Florida teen became a movement.

In my opinion it became a movement mainly because of the lack of regard for Black lives. The shooter (Zimmerman) wasn’t even arrested until 45 days later,. I’ve heard people of all races speaking out on the news concerned about there not being an arrest. No one, including me wanted Zimmerman assumed guilty, lunched or unjustly treated, but most of us felt he should have been at least arrested for the killing and then let a judge or jury decide if it was self defense as he claims or crime that he needs to be punished for. When you have the local police like in Sanford, Florida making a judgment on their own that no arrest or charges for a person that admitted to killing a person, that smells fishy. The majority of Blacks at least the ones that have an understanding of the legal system know we normally end up on the short end of the stick in regard to the legal system.  Most of us know we will get jerked around in the courtrooms and the whole world knows the percentage of Blacks occupying the prison industrial complex.

While we are on the subject of prisons, some of the conditions in these spots equate to cruel and inhumane punishment, so many feel its as bad as back in the slavery days. As I speak, inmates in most of the California prisons are protesting the inhumane treatment they are subjected to. The Conditions at Pelican Bay State Prison would shock the conscience of any normal person.

It’s ironic how the U.S always has a lot to say about other countries in regard to human and civil rights violations, wanting to intervene in Syria, Libra and other mid east countries because our leaders feel their leaders are violating the rights of their citizens, etc, but don’t appear to have any problem with the crap that jumps off over here. The congress people in the U.S appear to be so eager to get involved overseas, need to fix their own problems, in other words worry about America’s shortcomings and weaknesses instead of concentrating on other countries problems.

Food For Thought Part 38

The economy all over the world is in shambles and more specifically the American economy is the main concern of most of the American voters. The Republican party continues to blame President Obama for the shape the economy is in, ignoring the fact that they (Republican congress) did everything in their power to obstruct any attempt to get the economy going again in the right direction. They want the American people to forget that they publicly announced that their main goal and only concern was to make Obama a “one term president” and were not interested in working together with him and the Democrats on any bills, laws, etc. to create jobs or anything else to improve the economy or help the average American person or family. So how can Obama be the blame for the shape the economy is in or all the blame, congress deserves the most blame. The Republican can’t blame his policies, if they continue to refuse to work with him making compromises along the way, using the best ideas of both parties to improve the economy and create Jobs, etc.

Now, after saying all of that in support of Obama and the obstacles he is facing I’m finding it harder to excuse and support some of his blunders. For a guy that is suppose to be trying to get re-elected, it appears he’s getting some poor advice from someone or he isn’t thinking about the severe consequences of some of his decisions. A few months ago, early 2012, he picked a fight with the Catholics over contraceptives. As a person of faith I find it hard to understand why he can’t understand why so many people have a problem with his position. His position is wanting women to be covered in the various healthcare insurance plans at work for all their needs and making the health care plans to cover contraceptives in their plans. Although the Catholic church itself was exempt, Catholic organizations were not and felt they were being asked to cover things that are directly against their faith. Obama isn’t going to win that fight, it appears he’s engaging in a war against people of faith.

Now, recently Obama is the first sitting president to come out supporting “Gay Marriage”. He says its only his personal belief and it should be left up to each individual state to vote on it, but he feels Gays deserve the same rights that everyone else has and equates it with civil rights. Whether you agree or disagree with same sex marriage being legal because of your personal, religious or moral beliefs it should’nt be the deciding factor in which way you vote in an election that has so many more important issues effecting our everyday life. Issues like healthcare, education, racial profiling, wars. Programs that are being cut that help the needy, voter I.D laws, women’s rights and on and on.

I listen to some of the people on the news that are so outraged about the gay marriage issue and wonder where is the same outrage about cutting programs for the poor and average Americans so they can continue the tax cuts for the wealthiest and corporate American. What’s equally disturbing is how some of the Black preachers are speaking out against Obama, even encouraging their congregation to stay at home on election day because of the gay marriage issue. That’s crazy!!! This one guy Rev, Emmett Burns, from one of those southern churches said he’ll stay home this election day rather then vote for Obama. You can tell when listening to him that he isn’t very bright because he said “I wont vote for Mitt Romney but just not vote, He’s not intelligent enough to understand that by staying home instead of voting, is a vote for Romney. If there are 500 Republicans that come out to vote, and 500 Democrats that could have but 200 stay home as he suggest because they are upset about gay marriag, then the Republicans wins because it’l be 500 to 300. Those same people so upset about the gay marriage issue should be just as upset about the sinful cutting of programs designed to help the poor, they should be outraged about adultery since they are selecting sins to be upset about. That jumps off on a regular basis by a bunch of the congress people, other elected officials, as well as the average person, including members of his congregation. The bible and other spiritual books of other religions condemn adultery just as they do gay activities, so where is the outrage in that regard. We can’t pick and chose what we are going to follow in the book. Some of these same churches and Holier then-thou, followers that are so outraged about gay marriage are turning a blind eye to racism and other actis of sin. There was a recent report on CNN saying 8 million seniors in the U.S are going hungry, but at the same time big corporations are raking in billions, where is the outrage in regards to that.

To Be continues.. Intensify the Struggle!
